Humane Animal Welfare Society of Wakesha County,HAWS, is a non-profit organization established in 1965. HAWS assists over 6,000 animals each year and welcomes more than 31,000 human visitors annually. An “open admissions” shelter, they accept animals regardless of age, health, temperament or breed. Their active humane education department offers programs and services to promote responsible pet ownership and prevent animal abuse and neglect in our community and beyond. HAWS' Behavior Department also provides training classes, private consults and behavior modification for pets both in and outside of their shelter walls. Their Mod Squad volunteers and partnership with Carroll University give them even greater means to assist our community, ensuring great pet-people relationships. |
