Sometimes orthopaedic surgery is necessary due to a sports injury rather than chronic arthritis or a degenerative condition that are the most common causes. Aaron Virnig is a black belt in tae kwon do but prior to last fall, he sustained an injury while competing that put his training on hold. Aaron was kicked, lost his balance and fell. He braced his fall with his arms and sustained a fractured radial head in his elbow. Dr. Kaplan performed the surgery and Aaron is back to competing – in fact, he traveled to Korea to participate in the World Tae Kwon Do Festival last summer and medaled in two events. |
