The Captain's French Toast Mix
This recipe works best using thick cut Texas Toast style bread. For best results, allow your bread slices to sit out overnight, or at least for an hour or two, so they dry out slightly. This recipe makes approx. 6 pieces of thick cut Texas toast.
-1/2 cup Heavy Cream
-3/4 cup Granulated Sugar
-1 TB Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum
-1 tsp Cinnamon
-1/4 tsp ground Cloves
-1/4 tsp ground Nutmeg
-1/4 tsp Kosher Salt
In a mixing bowl, lightly whisk the eggs, add in the heavy cream, sugar and Captain Morgan's rum, whisk to combine. Add in the spices and salt, whisk to combine. Soak your pieces of thick cut Texas toast in the mixture, just long enough for them to absorb the mix, but not get soggy. Drain excess. Melt a small amount of margarine or clarified butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Place pieces of bread into pan and cook for approximitely 4 minutes on each side, until evenly browned and cooked all the way through. Dust with powdered sugar, serve with syrup or favorite toppings.
