Andrew Goldstein's mother read movie manuscripts and mingled with Elizabeth Taylor, Orson Wells, and many other Hollywood legends. His father was a bookie. Both the mother, Pearl, and the father, Harry, in Goldstein's debut novel,THE BOOKIE'S SON, are drawn from Goldstein's parents, and the entire story is based on Goldstein's childhood growing up in the Bronx during the Sixties. "This book has Oscar-Winning Movie written all over it. I read it twice. It gets more heart-wrenchingly hilarious, and more hilariously heart-wrenching with each read. The Bookie's Son is a sure bet, and ANdrew Goldstein is a masterful writer: He knows precisely how to touch the heart- and the funny hone- all at once," said Terri Kelley, Host of the TV show Books and Authors.
