Author Bonnie Jo Campbell comes in to discuss her newest novel, Once Upon A River. In this river odyssey, teenaged sharpshooter Margo Crane runs away from what’s left of her home after the violent death of her father, and she must make her own life on the river. The story was inspired by the coming together of two stories she had previously written, one in her first collection, called, “The Fishing Dog” and the other in hersecond collection, called “Family Reunion.” When she realized she'd written the same character at different stages of her life, she knew she had to write more. Once Upon A River explores Campbell's interest in strong independent female characters and the classic American river story. |
