Best Advice Ever
Today on The Morning Blend we asked viewers to share the best piece of advice they've ever received. It could be advice about love, pregnancy, parenting, life -- whatever comes to mind. I think one of the best things I ever heard was, "No is the most powerful word in the English language, so use it"!
Turns out that was great advice because I do use it. In fact, I say no more now than ever. Something about the word "no" just clicked with me after turning 40. I'm much better at saying no to things I don't really want to do -- and "yes" to only the things that are either really good for me or that I really want to be doing.
Here are just a few others to get you thinking. Maybe you haven't heard these before. Enjoy and please, share your best advice!
"Amateurs practice until they get it right; professionals practice until they can't get it wrong". - Tiffany's mom (Momma O)
"Persistence beats resistance" - Tiffany
"Always have a Plan B" - my mom
"Life is a game of inches" - my dad
"The harder you work the luckier you get" - anonymous
"Books and dogs make good companions" - Penny Abbott, Retired School Counselor
"Forget head, heart. Go with gut" - Lorraine Gibson, Microbiologist
"Life's a rummage sale, no returns" - Sally Friedman, Journalist

Garage clutter: Girl, put those 3 kids to work cleaning out that garage and once it's clean charge them $1 per item for each item they don't put in its place. Or you can seize the item and put it in solitary confinement for a few days. I do this with my 3 all the time. It's not where it's supposed to be? Then it's mine until I release it back into the general population. You live in Wisconsin, you can't park on the driveway in the winter!
Best Advice: John Conrad (my dad) always used to say: "Keep living." He would say that when we expressed shock at someone's behavior. It was his way of saying, "If you live long enough you'll see it all." Another good one that he always said around his birthday was: "I'm just glad to be on this side of the dirt." I use both sayings a lot. My wit & twisted sense of humor come directly from him. He was a hoot and a half! He passed in 2003.
